Mexico's diplomatic presence in Germany dates to 1879, making it one of the oldest Latin American missions in Europe. The Tiergarten embassy coordinates with the Consulate General in Frankfurt and four honorary consulates (Hamburg, Hannover, Cologne, Munich) to serve approximately 20,000 Mexican nationals residing in Germany. Bilateral trade reached €29 billion in 2023, driven by Volkswagen, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz production facilities across Mexico. The German-Mexican Chamber of Commerce (CAMEXA) facilitates over 2,000 German companies operating in Mexico, while DAAD scholarships support hundreds of Mexican researchers annually.
